Bitter Orange (Citrus Aurantium)
Also refered to as the Seville orange. Bitter orange has many different uses other than just the eating of it. The essential oils extracted from the peel can be used to treat various skin conditions and in Ayurvedic medicine the oils are used to treat digestive system disorders. The extract of the bitter orange peel contains a compound called Synephrine, an adrenergic amine which stimulates the biological processes of the breakdown of body fat. Synephrine causes the release of noradrenaline which increases fat breakdown by binding to β3 receptors which then signal bio-chemical reactions which increase fat breakdown. β3 receptors increase the rate at which fat is released from body stores (lipolysis) and increase resting metabolic rate (thermogenesis). Because Synephrine indirectly stimulates β3 receptors with minimal effect on α- and β-receptors, Citrus Aurantium has reduced adverse effects on heart rate and blood pressure. For these reasons it has been added to, and is an invaluable ingredient in our our DNA Lean Thermo-XX fat burning formula
Green Tea Extract (camellia sinensis)
Green tea has been used for centuries in India and China to treat varies different ailments as well as purportedly increasing life expectancy. Green tea has a high concentration of naturally potent antioxidants known as polyphenols which have been show to have a greater antioxidant affect than the vitamins C & E. Through the effects of its three major components, catchens, caffiene, and theanine, Green tea has been shown to have significant fat loss and weight loss effects. Studies conducted with healthy human subjects reported reduced body weight and body fat, as well as increased energy expenditure, fat oxidation, and thermogenesis. Green tea has also been shown to increase fat breakdown during exercise.
Meadowsweet (Filipendula Ulmaria)
The active ingredient in the Meadowsweet plant is Salicin, a glycoside present in all parts of the Meadowsweet plant; leaf, root and flower. Salicin is used as a nature's alternative the pharmaceutically made aspirin. Aspirin has been used for decades as part of a ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin fat burning stack. The combination of Meadowsweet and bitter orange is nature's equivalent of these pharmaceutical medicines, and as such has become a potent non medicinal fat burning stack.
Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale)
Dandelion root has mild diuretic effects and as such is useful for fluid retention without affecting potassium levels in the body. Keeping a normal potassium level is imperative for hydration and thus preventing muscular cramps associated with electrolyte mineral loss. Dandelion root has also been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as having beneficial effects on insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism.
Uvi Ursi (Arctostaphylos uva ursi)
Uvi ursi is an evergreen shrub which is perhaps more commonly referred to as bearberry, due to the fact that bears have a penchant for the eating of its fruit. Uvi ursi has historically been used since the 2nd century by ancient cultures for its known antibacterial properties which may alleviate bladder and urininary infections. Uvi ursi may also have a mild diuretic effect. A diuretic aids the body in maintaining a natural water balance, flushing excess water our of your system which may have also have several positive effects on your health. Letting go of excess water, which can be a problem for a lot of women during menstruation will certainly help you maintain a leaner look.
Organic Acai Palmberry (euterpe oleracea)
Although acai berries are relatively new to the supplement industry, these berries have been consumed for centuries by indigenous Amazonian people for its energy boosting properties. Laboratory tests show that acai berries yield a high concentration of potent natural antioxidants such as sterols and anthocyanin. These berries have also been found to contain essential trace minerals such as calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, and zinc, along with essential omega 3, 6 & 9 fatty acids, and as such have now been classed as a "super food" due to its high nutritional value. We have found that acai berry has added to the energy boosting and "thermogenic fat burning effects" of DNA Lean Thermo-XX®.
Capsaicin is the primary active ingredient in cayenne. Capsaicin is involved in pain mediation and also has anti-inflammatory properties. It also has a protective effect on the lining of the stomach. In addition, it has beneficial effects on circulation. Full body blood circulation can be important in fat burning by ensuring fat is mobilised via the blood from all areas of your body. Cayenne also has a significant thermogenic effect, in which you can actually feel your body temperature raise, a side effect when your body burns fat as fuel.
From the extract of black pepper (Piper nigrum L) Bioperine is an essential ingredient to our DNA Lean® Thermo-XX formula. Bioperine is a nutrient absorbent enhancer and has been shown to increase the bioavailability of nutritional ingredients. It has therefore been added to our formula to further enhance the bioavailability and nutrient synergy of all ingredients and thus further enhancing the formulas fat burning effects
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid (the body can manufacture it from other amino acids). However, it is essential for the manufacture of catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine, dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA), norepinephrine, and epinephrine. Variations in neurotransmitter concentrations have been shown to result in a variety of physiological and psychological changes. For example, reduction in brain catecholamines have been found in association with depression and memory deficits. L-Tyrosine has also been found to minimise or reverse stress-induced performance decrement by increasing depleted pools of norepinephrine. L-Tyrosine is the precursor for the hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine produced in the thyroid gland and which are responsible for changes in metabolic rate. L-Tyrosine is also one of the precursors to human growth hormone which is a lipolytic (breakdown of fat) polypeptide hormone.
Ginkgo Biloba is extracted from the the leaves of the Ginkgo tree and contains phytonutrients called flavonoid glycosides. Due to its chemical substrates Ginkgo has many useful properties including improved blood flow, circulation, and has also been shown to combat free radicals to help prevent oxidative damage. Ginkgo Biloba has been shown to improve blood circulation to various tissues; the skin, brain, hands, feet and legs. Ginkgo is also a potent antioxidant and can have significant anti-inflammatory effects.
Huperzine a is an extract from the native Chinese plant Huperzia serrata, and is referred to as a nootropic (cognitive enhancer). Huperzine a is an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, and as such can increase levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is not only a mood enhancer but is also one of the chemicals that our nerves use to communicate in the brain, muscles, and other areas.
